Ranking toilet-friendliness municipalities
Every year, HogeNood compiles the official ranking of toilet-friendliness of municipalities in the Netherlands. The 2024 winner is municipality:
West Maas and Waal 7,9
Yet it turns out that as many as three-quarters of the municipalities scored insufficiently. So there is still a lot of work to do to make the Netherlands truly toilet-friendly.

The number of inhabitants divided by the number of toilets (max. 300 points)

The facilities per toilet location. The more people the toilet is suitable for the higher the number of points (max. 300 points)

Proximity
The 500-meter standard, where toilets are no more than 500 meters apart (max. 150 points)

Public vs. Disclosed
% Public toilets of the total number of toilets within the municipality (max. 100 points)

Policy
What policy does the municipality have for restrooms. Have questions been asked, has a motion been made, has a motion passed, is there an active policy? (max. 100 points)
